Social Engagement When Job Hunting

Things to Avoid:

  1. Asking companies/agencies to contact you

When you are responding to a job ad, follow the application instructions as given by the company/agency. Avoid leaving them your contact details and asking them to contact you. Unless otherwise stipulated in the ad, always make contact first by applying. If you do not apply, you cannot be considered for the job.

  1. Asking questions via inbox

Before you send a company/agency a message to their inbox, make sure that the question you want to ask is not already being answered in their Info Section, in the job spec or on their website.

  1. Indicating interest but never applying

If you are serious about a job, apply as indicated in the post, instead of only commenting that you are interested.
